My professional background

Graduated from Science Communication
I started my career in journalism working on a community radio station in Toronto, Canada.

Working as a local journalist I developed an extraordinary ability to field report and covered a wide range of topics, from cultural to social and political matters.

Besides my experience working in the broadcasting field, in 2025 I started a new stage of my career by jumping into the digital marketing industry, collaborating with a digital marketing agency focused on artificial intelligence.

What I Do Now

From my experience in journalism working in Canada to starting in digital marketing as a freelancer, I'm looking forward to collaborating on projects that mix and integrate all my background, social skills and multicultural perspective to bring new stories, ideas and campaigns that stand out.

Whether it is audio production, storytelling, writing or strategic planning, I'm up for everything that involves creativity, commitment and passion.

Testimonials

"Ivette worked for me as a radio reporter within the Local Journalism Initiative project, funded by the Government of Canada. Each week, she submitted a certain number of stories about social and political issues in Toronto, especially those affecting the Latino community. As her editor, working with her was very easy and a true pleasure because she always completed her assignments on time and with high quality. She worked hard to find relevant and fresh information and to connect with interesting interviewees. Although she had no prior experience in radio, she learned extremely quickly and with little direction. By the end of her time on the project, she had mastered the technical side of radio production and had developed a sharp ear for storytelling. She also knew how to make her interviewees open up and share their stories. But what I appreciated most about Ivette was her courage, which is perhaps the most important trait for a journalist. Journalism is never an easy job, but she did it while being new to Canada and working in English. She managed to cover highly significant events and speak with all kinds of people—from the Mayor of Toronto to people experiencing homelessness. Thanks to that, her reports were among the most engaging in the project."

- Conrad Fox, National Editor, Community Radio Fund of Canada

"I had the privilege of working with Ivette Hernandez when she was a journalist with radio station CHHA in Toronto. Her stories were created for local broadcast and further distributed on the news website frequencynews.ca, of which I was one of two editors. I always looked forward to receiving Ivette's stories. Her story topics were always interesting and ranged from arts and entertainment and culture of the Spanish-speaking community of Toronto, all the way to more difficult subjects such as immigration and the issues surrounding immigration. Through Ivette's stories, I learned about the diversity of the community and the issues that new Canadians face. In all cases, Ivette was easy to work with, happy to have feedback and always appreciative of opportunities to learn. "
